HOUSTON - Houston Business Journal

Thirty-year mortgage rates fell to 4.78 percent Friday, hitting their lowest level since Freddie Mac started tracking rates in 1970.

Adjustable-rate mortgages also eased, but one-year, adjustable-rate mortgages are averaging rates nearly the same as 30-year fixed rates, at 4.77 percent.

Freddie Mac officials reported borrowers who refinanced their mortgages in the first quarter reduced their combined mortgage payments by about $2.5 billion over the coming year.

btu100Going Green!!

Bryan Texas Utilities is ahead of the current wave of Green awareness.

Did you know that BTU introduced rebates for solar electricity, compact flourescent bulbs, solar hot water heaters?

Not content to sit back and play catch up, BTU got ahead of the game and became one of the few areas in Texas offering incentives to go green.  Would a rebate of $1,000 to 1,500 for installing a solar water heater interest you?  How about up to a $4,000 rebate for installing a photovoltaic system, or rebates for installing a heat pump, buying compact flourescent or LED lighting?  There is a wealth of information on the BTU web site.  Before you buy new appliances, insulate your home, consult the BTU webpage at BTU's Green + web page.

Stay tuned as we continue to explore how we can go green in the Brazos Valley.
